Lucas Sendacz Acher is a Brazilian director based in New York. He graduated in Film from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP) and directed his first feature film, Born Splendid, at the age of 20. A hybrid between fiction and documentary, the film premiered at the 21ª Mostra Tiradentes SP. After graduating, Lucas co-founded Balcão Filmes, an independent production company, with three friends. Through Balcão Filmes, he directed, co-directed, and wrote several short films and music videos.

In 2021, Lucas moved to New York to pursue a Master’s degree at the Graduate Film program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He is currently a third-year student and was recently awarded the Martin Scorsese Young Filmmakers Fellowship. Since joining Tisch, Lucas has directed three short films: Lost In Smoke (2021), Capsula (2022), and Where Insects Hide at Night (2023). The latter was selected for the Palm Springs ShortFest, where it will have its world premiere in June 2024.

Currently, Lucas is in the development phase of his thesis short film, Laser-Cat, scheduled to begin production in January 2025.
